Lockerz.com Scam? Apparently not.

January 21st, 2010

So, I’ve been into this lockerz.com thing for quite a while now and heres what I have to say.

While I was one of the most hesitant people ever to sign up for this, I finally cracked and took the plunge.

Upon my first impression I thought to myself, “Oh great, another pyramid scam.” However to help my friend out, I signed up. After crunching some numbers and testing out the system for my self, I really can’t find any flaw with it. There is no catch that I found, there are no hidden fees, traps, need for a credit card, there isn’t even a need to invite anyone at all. Users can use every aspect of the site with out ever inviting anyone. (Thus killing the pyramid scheme).

However, there is still an invitation basis and intensive for inviting other users. Apparently upon your 20th invite you receive something called Z-Lister status. Basically comes with a free T-Shirt and allows you to earn double the amount of points. (Oh here we go, I thought) but again, with the ability to use the site without inviting anyone, in my personally opinion its not a pyramid scheme, but more of a pyramid plan.

Here is the math that I have come up with.

It takes 5 seconds for users to log in, and 5 seconds to answer a single question. Thats 10 seconds a day.

You earn 2 points for logging in and 2 points for the question you answered. Thats 4 points a day.

A PlayStation 3 or xBox 360 game cost, 100 points.

If your earning 4 points a day and a game cost 100 points, thats 25 days to earn 100 points. (Excluding you initial ~ 25 point stat)

Now, it takes 25 days to earn that many points and 10 seconds per day, thats a mere 250 seconds of your life to earn a free video game. Thats less then 5 minutes total!

Now, users can still choose to hang on to their points in hopes of earning something a little larger for example a MacBook, such as myself. But I think for most average users it is their choice on what they would like and how much time they would like to spend here.

If anyone is looking to try Lockerz.com and see for themselves, head on over to www.level42.ca and sign up for your free invitation.
